The ninth annual Ice Carving Show was held in the downtown area of Mount Clements, Mich. on Jan. 31, 2014 through Feb. 2, 2014. The event is organized and promoted by the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority which is a team of people appointed to keep a consistent eye on the conditions of the downtown business district. The event is a way to invite the local community and surrounding communities to visit the downtown area, and to accept sponsor ships of ice sculptures that raised revenues. When a business or organization sponsored an ice sculpture their names were on it or on a sign below it.
My first assignment in the digital photojournalism course was on this event and the photos are a way of reporting the event with very little text that would work well to communicate details about the event to anyone who did not attend but was curious what went on. I attended the event on Feb. 1, 2014. There are captions on some of the photographs.
